St John the Baptist School has raised £600 for the Northern Cleft Foundation by organising a “Gallery of Smiles” morning.
Every pupil in the school was asked to produce a piece of art depicting someone smiling. This was then displayed for parents, other pupils and members of the community to admire in the school hall. The art was sold to parents wishing to buy their child’s work.
As well as producing the display, the school held a raffle and sold cakes to help raise funds for the charity.
Thanks to this event three children will be able to have a life-changing operation. Thank you to Gill Byrom for her inspirational idea and also to all the staff, pupils and parents of the school who supported the event and made it such a success! We hope to cascade these smiles to many more schools…
